On Monday May 6 Middle East Eye reported Thousands of Egyptian workers in Kuwait are staging protests in migrant shelters, demanding to be repatriated back to Egypt. In a video posted on youtube page of Middle East Eye Kuwaitian Authorities appear to shell tear gas on protesters.

On the same date Hindustan Times reported Surat, Gujarat police arrested 204 migrant workers who allegedly stoned policemen, demanding that they be allowed to go home. The workers, mainly from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, were charged with rioting and attempt to murder after the fourth incident of violence in Surat in the past 23 days.

Zeenews wrote, Migrant workers from UP, Bihar protest in Bengaluru amid coronavirus COVID-19 lockdown, block Tumakuru highway, ending up injuries in Police and protesters side.

Also thehindu.com reported a large number of construction labourers inside Suncity Township in Sector 54 in Gurugram, Haryana on Golf Course Road protested saying that they could not sustain themselves and demanded that they be sent back homes.

In another region in Asia, Singapore with 20 thousand cases of Corona virus, most of them migrant workers, could face the same crisis. Aljazeera English reported migrant workers particularly at risk from contracting coronavirus due to cramped dormitories.

Shortly after the riots South China Morning Post wrote Singapore promised migrant workers decent housing. Adding 13,000 migrant workers in dorms – mostly from India, Bangladesh and China – have tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of April.
